Frequently Asked Questions:
Where is the Hillside Hideaway Retreat?
We’re located at 1713 Highland Street Ext., DuBois, PA 15801. We are located just 1 mile off Interstate 80 in the outskirts of DuBois, PA. About a 1-hour drive from State College, PA and about a 2-hour drive from Pittsburgh, PA.
What size group can this Retreat hold?
We can host groups as large as 12. We have 12 beds in 5 bedrooms. One bedroom on the main level and four bedrooms on the second floor. Our dining room can very comfortably seat all 12 guests. There are 12 individual work stations.
What if we have fewer than 12 in my group?
Our retreat house is rented as a whole. The price is the same no matter how many are in the group. Having a larger group makes the cost more economical for each person.
Do you only allow Thursday to Sunday Bookings?
No, that's just what most people choose (and what our automated booking engine supports) because it's over a weekend. We can also accommodate other 3-night minimum stays (Wednesday - Saturday, Friday - Monday, etc). Contact us with your request and we'll put together a custom quote for your group!
How many work stations are there?
There are twelve sturdy, adjustable height, 28”x63” tables, plus adjustable office chairs in the craft room area. As well as twelve side tables available for use that are 30” wide by 19.5” deep and adjustable height. In addition to the twelve work stations, there are two ironing stations and two large tables with self-healing cutting mats. Refer to The Craft Room tab for more details.
Can you take payment from each individual in my group?
Unfortunately no. We ask that you choose a group organizer to collect payment and organize your group under one reservation.
Is the retreat handicap accessible?
The main level of the house is all one level. The parking lot is at the same level as the main level of the house. There is one bedroom with four beds on the main level. There is also a large, open-concept bathroom on the main level with grab bars for the toilet and shower areas. The vanity in this bathroom you can roll up to, as it is all open under it.
Are there classes offered at the Hillside Hideaway Retreat?
We are providing a wonderful place for you to hold your own retreat with friends and family. Any classes or activities will be up to your group to create. We may offer classes in the future, but this is not something we currently offer. If this is something your group is interested in, please leave us this feedback.
Do I need a craft group to make a reservation?
Hillside Hideaway Retreat has specifically been designed as a retreat space for crafting groups to come and be creative and relax together. We are not taking reservations at this time for families or non-quilting/crafting groups, as we want to ensure we have availability for crafting groups. This may change in the future. Always feel free to reach out if you want to use this Retreat for a different activity.
Are meals included?
We do not provide any meals with the retreat stay. All meals will be on your own. The retreat house is equipped with a full-size kitchen with everything you need for preparing meals. There are pots and pans, crock pots, baking dishes, utensils, coffee pots, a tea kettle, a toaster, and much more. We include a welcome binder at the retreat with recommendations for local restaurants for your convenience. The binder includes the distance from the house to each restaurant as well as recommended meals that our family enjoys. Many of the local restaurants will also deliver. If you want to research before you arrive, check out our blog posts on local food options!
Do we need to bring our own linens (sheets, towels, etc.)?
No, we provide all the linens for your use. Each bed will be made with clean sheets. The bathrooms have all the towels, washcloths, and hand towels you will need for your stay. The Kitchen has plenty of hand towels, too!
The bathrooms also have extra toiletry items if you forget something (toothbrush, mini deodorant, Q-tips, toothpaste, etc.)
Do we have to clean the house before we leave?
No cleaning needs to be done before you leave the retreat house. We will bring in a cleaning service after you leave. However, we do ask that you keep things tidy and follow the check-out procedure that we provide in order to make it possible to prepare the retreat efficiently for the next group.
