For lovers of Italian cuisine, Luigi's Ristorante is a must-visit. Just 6 minutes from the Hillside Hideaway Retreat, this family-owned restaurant offers homemade, authentic Italian cuisine from recipes that have been handed down through generations. The homemade lasagna receives rave reviews. We also recommend the Grilled Steak or Chicken Salad, any of the pasta dishes, and the Italian wedding soup. The décor adds to the dining experience, making it a great spot for a fine dining experience. If going for lunch, the best time is between 11 am and 2 pm, order their lunch special, and you will not be disappointed! They have many gluten-free options, including pasta, sandwiches, and salads. 4. Calliari Bakery & Italian Deli Grocery

A locally owned bakery, known for their homemade brick oven-baked Italian bread that they use for their subs & sandwiches and their meatballs! They also offer deli salads, including pasta salads and daily soup specials. Our family recommends their subs and their Italian wedding soup. They offer daily lunch specials for a quick lunch option. They also have an ice cream counter with locally made ice cream from the Nittany Valley Creamery in Howard, PA. 6. The Small Batch

Located 16-minutes from Hillside Hideaway Retreat, The Small Batch is worth the drive! A family-owned and operated bakery and eatery that makes everything from scratch and offers a new menu daily! They focus on quality, old-fashioned home cooking "just like grandma made" food. They offer subs, delicious soups, a variety of other meals, baked goods, and heavenly hand pies & cinnamon rolls. They also have fresh sourdough bread and lots of homemade gluten-free sweet treats! The Small Batch does not have dining options; pick up some delicious food and enjoy it back at Hillside Hideaway Retreat.
