I have been told about Heirloom Quilting ever since I moved to the DuBois area (almost 5 years ago!). I have quilting friends who always stop here on their vacation to Cooks Forest. They have been telling me for years that I need to check out this shop. Well, since I am on a mission to find all the best local shops to recommend to our guests, I finally stopped in.
I have often been told that if you run out of fabric for a project, check Heirloom Quilting, and now I understand why! When you walk into the shop, you will be greeted by friendly staff and endless aisles of FABRIC! Heriloom Quilting packs a huge selection into their shop! They have a wide variety of quilting cottons, a huge selection of panels, pre-cuts, notions, thread, books, patterns, you name it, they have it! I tried to capture the pure size of this shop in the photos below, but you will want to go check them out to see it all for yourself!
In addition to this huge selection, they have a second building right next door, Sew Outta Space Stash House. The Stash House is full yard cuts only, and remember to bring cash or a check for your Stash House purchases. This is open a few times each month or by request. Check out their monthly newsletter on their Facebook page to see what days the Stash House will be open. If the Stash House is not open when you plan to visit, call ahead; they may be able to open it for you!
The owner, Ellie, and the staff there that day were kind and super helpful with all their customers. If you need help finding something or picking out fabric, they will gladly offer a hand! When I told them about our retreat center, they were ecstatic!! They cannot wait to welcome you all if you decide to venture their way during your stay. They even gave me goody bags with Heirloom swag for our first few retreat groups! We cannot thank them enough for this kind gesture!
Heirloom Quilting is located in Brookville, PA, approximately 30 minutes from Hillside Hideaway Retreat. There are a few ways to get there, either by Route 322 or Interstate 80. We recommend taking 322 and avoiding 80, especially during times of construction on Interstate 80 and during the winter months! When I visited, I actually traveled there via the Route 322 route since I was at the retreat checking on the construction process. This route was super simple and only took 30 minutes max! It was well worth the drive!
