I found another hidden GEM local to Hillside Hideaway Retreat!! You will most definitely want to check out this shop!

Introducing Lisa’s Sew Crafty!

I did a little research before my visit. I was expecting a yarn shop with a gift selection. But to my surprise, this shop is so MUCH MORE, and it’s huge!

Lisa’s shop features not only a large yarn selection but also gifts, handmade ideas, and a large selection for quilters! In the yarn area, there is plenty to choose from, including multiple types of yarn, patterns, and kits. You will definitely find what you are looking for, for that next project! Something special about this shop is Lisa's hand-dyed yarn. Lisa completes the dying process herself! What a one-of-a-kind product for your next project!

For the quilters, Lisa has a wide selection of quilters cotton, precuts, books, patterns, and notions. If you are looking for a gift, Lisa even has a nice selection of gifty items. She is slowly expanding her inventory to include other crafts, too, like watercolor supplies.

This shop has a large classroom area where Lisa offers classes and hosts weekly stitch groups. Classes offered include beginner knitting, sock camp, knitting clothes, card making, painting, and more! She announces her classes on her Facebook page. If your group is interested in a class while at Hillside Hideaway Retreat, contact Lisa. She is willing to offer classes to your groups at the retreat! She may even travel to you! What a treat!

This wonderful shop is located in Curwensville, PA, approximately 30 minutes from our retreat center! Take a nice, easy drive through the countryside to get there. It’s well worth the drive! Below is a link to the directions.

I hope you get a chance to check out Lisa’s Sew Crafty during your stay!

Looking to shop at more local shops? Check out my visits to two other local shops HERE.

Craft events happening in Pennsylvania that I learned about while visiting Lisa's Sew Crafty are listed below.

Have you ever heard of PA Yarn Quest? This is a shop hop that includes 30 yarn shops and fiber farms scattered across the state of Pennsylvania. 2026 is their inaugural year. Lisa helped create this event and has the passports if you are interested! This quest runs from May 1 to October 31, with prizes available!! You can check out PA Yarn Quest’s website for more information here.

Another fun event Lisa is a part of is a fiber festival in Pittsburgh called Stitchburgh. This event was formerly the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival and the Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival. In 2026, this event is being held from August 21 to August 23. There looks to be lots of classes being offered. I counted almost 50 of them, covering all skill levels. Plus, there will be many fiber art-related vendors, including Lisa Sew Crafty! You can check out Stitchburgh’s website here.

Thank you for reading!
